Press release: Statement by religious leaders

After deep and constructive advocacy workshops and consultative meetings with religious leaders and women leaders’ representatives on the grave pain of war time GBV survivors in Mekelle, Maichew and Axum, leaders from all religious institutions developed press release (Statement by religious leaders) and announced to the public on 21 August, 2024 at Northern Star Hotel.

 The statement by religious leaders on the grave pain of war time GBV survivors and its sustainable solutions mainly consist.

1.The role of religious leaders and respective institutions

      2. Monitoring and comprehensive support of our redeemers

       3.Advocacy against the erroneous thinking of our  redeemers.

Aba Teumelisan from Catholic Church forwarded his heart felt on the press release made by religious leaders from different religious institutions and appreciated the effort made by MfM, USAID & Bahgina RCM PLC.

His holiness also forwarded that religious leaders and non-governmental organizations together are expected to do something different, beyond workshop and consultative meetings. He also underlined that war time GBV survivors must be healed economically which is vital to them to survive.
